Three East Anglian operators, Galloway Coach Travel, Stephensons and NIBS, are joining forces to launch a new recruitment website aimed at attracting trainee PCV drivers.
The innovative – changeyourview.travel – is designed to raise awareness of driving as a career for people with customer service skills looking for a change in direction. It asks “The chores of stacking the aisles? Or driving the shores of the Scottish Isles?”
The site includes a short application form and frequently asked questions for potential recruits, to make applying quick and easy, as well as providing information for existing PCV holders. Each company receives and deals with its own recruitment process.
The operators hope that the website will help to recruit 20 new drivers this year. The operators say that without an increase in new recruits, coach and bus operators across the country will continue to find growth a challenge.
Bill Hiron, director of all three companies, says: “This is the first time as far as I’m aware, three local transport companies have come together to tackle the issue of driver recruitment. It’s well known within the industry that we need to find innovative solutions to attract new, younger customer focused recruits and I’m very hopeful this initiative will help us in the coming months.”
Dean Robbie, general manager, adds: “In a world with so many opportunities, we have to work harder to attract new applicants. We need to sell the benefits of job flexibility, long term career stability and a great view from your window every day. We hope the new website will help to get across to anyone thinking of switching career what a role with us entails.”
