DJ Thomas Coaches, a family-run business based in Neath, Port Talbot, has added to its fleet of 40 vehicles with the addition of a new Plaxton Leopard.
The 12.8m, 59-seat Volvo B8R model with I-Shift transmission, will be used on school contract work as well as private hires, day trips and excursions.
Launched in 1954 by Douglas James Thomas and his wife Barbara, the company is now run by their son and daughter, Richard and Andrea, along with grandchildren Lee and Hannah.
“There have been many changes over the years but the terrific foundation established by my mother and father has enabled us to progressively spread our wings,” says Richard Thomas. “In partnership with some of the industry’s leading hotel chains and travel operators we now run tours to major attractions and key tourist locations across the country, as well as holiday programmes covering the Channel Islands, Disneyland Paris, and wider afield in mainland Europe.
“In parallel with this we have never lost sight of our grassroots and continue to provide a wide range of corporate, private hire, school and specialist services locally. I like to think we are an integral part of the transport landscape in South Wales.
“Plaxton has played an important part in that success story too. Our relationship with them goes back many years and I’m sure it will continue into the future. Their vehicles are stylish, reliable, perform well and have a real street presence, factors that endorse everything we aim to achieve as a company.”
