Fernhill Travel, a family run business based in Bracknell has introduced a new Plaxton Panther to its fleet of ULEZ-compliant coaches.
The new 12.8m 61-seat model has air-conditioning throughout, USB charging points, CCTV, reversing cameras and alloy wheels. It is powered by a Volvo DK8 engine with I-Shift transmission and has gone into service on the operator’s corporate and private hires across Berkshire, London, the home counties and the south of England.
“We have a long and successful relationship with Plaxton and more than 50 per cent of our coach fleet is now ULEZ-compliant,” says Simon Rowland, Fernhill managing director.
“This is a vital factor as so many of our operations involve travel in and around London, criss-crossing the new ultra-low emission zone in the process.
“I’m particularly pleased that the new Panther carries the name of Frank Holgate as part of the livery. He was the founding father of the business in 1979 hence we are celebrating our 40th anniversary this year. He is delighted with the gesture, as are his sons Martin and Richard, both of whom remain actively involved as directors of the company.”
Fernhill Travel is part of the Rowgate Group, which incorporates White Bus, Berkshire’s oldest independent bus and coach operator, providing services across Surrey, Windsor and Maidenhead, and Bracknell Forest. It will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2021.
