Johnsons Coach & Bus Travel has taken two Irizar i8 Integrals as flagships vehicles for its holiday and excursion operations. The 14.07m, 43-seat tri-axles will serve on Johnsons’ Luxury Traveller programme, which includes stays at four-star hotels, special lunches and other extras.
Director John Johnson says: “We have had a Luxury Traveller programme in our brochures for some years now, and while it sells very well the coaches provided have, up to now, only ever been the same coaches as those allocated to all our other tours, which are 49-seat, 13m extra-legroom coaches.
“These two new coaches are the flagships for the enhancement of the Luxury Traveller brand for 2020. We looked at other premium level coaches, but the Irizar i8 Integral stood out as being the best for looks, specification, build flexibility, product quality and aftersales backup. And we like the Integral design.
“The i8 Integrals will operate almost exclusively on our Luxury Traveller holidays, short breaks, shows and excursions.”
Johnsons’ i8 Integrals will be finished in a new livery designed by Ray Stenning, complimented by black-tint windows.
Johnson adds: “We liked the ease with which Irizar could provide a coach with just 43 seats that have consistent ‘first class’ legroom and calf supports.”
Other passenger features include a centre toilet with electric hand dryer, Bosch Professional Line audio and twin monitor Actia DVD player. The seating is equipped with a lateral displacement system, magazine-holders, leg-supports, USB charging, and aircraft-style tables.
Built-in vacuum cleaners will help to maintain the coaches in immaculate condition on tour, while leather steering wheels provide a touch of luxury for the drivers.
Both coaches feature DAF MX-13 355 483hp engines, driving through ZF Traxon automated manual gearboxes.
