Reading academy wins training contract

Reading Buses Academy has won its biggest external contract to date with Weavaway of Newbury appointing it to train all its PCV drivers who need to achieve the Driver CPC qualification. In the past month around 30 Weavaway drivers have undertaken up to five days’ training each to attain their CPC qualification.

The academy is providing training up to five days per candidate on a wide range of registered courses each designed to increase the knowledge and professionalism of the bus and coach driver. For the Driver CPC, a bus or coach driver must complete 35 hours of specialist off-the-road training in each defined five year period and the current period ends by September 2013.

“We are very pleased that Weavaway has selected us to provide these courses,” says Mick Hughes, who leads the Reading Buses Academy. “They chose us because we could dedicate courses to their specific needs, allowing them to gain maximum benefit. This makes a real virtue of the CPC for operators like Weavaway.”
