Bus Driver of the Year marks 50th year with special publication
To celebrate its 50th year, the Bus Driver of the Year competition produced a special souvenir brochure for the 2016 competition and copies of the publication are still available for £3 each, including postage.
The booklet looks back at some of the key milestones including contributions from some of the leading characters who have been involved, including John Boxall who organised the very first event for Coventry Corporation drivers in 1967, current chairman Joe Mackie who claims to have seen 41 BDOYs, and vice chairman Andrew Braddock who has also been involved for more than 40 years.
Braddock explains the importance of the event in recognising the contribution of bus drivers: “All too often the unsung heroes, it is they who make the first and greatest impressions on the passengers and carry a huge responsibility for safety on our congested roads”.
The souvenir booklet is available from BDOY, 4 Borderside, Yateley GU46 6LJ (email@example.com).
