First South Yorkshire has unveiled 22 new Wrightbus StreetDecks in Rotherham in an investment worth £5million as part of the Rotherham Bus Partnership. The partnership is pledged to deliver improvements in customer service and value-for-money to help attract more people onto public transport. The new buses, which have an overall capacity of 70 with 41 seats and 29 standees, will operate on the Sheffield-Rotherham- Doncaster X78 route.
“I welcome First South Yorkshire’s vehicle investment providing greener and more comfortable bus services,” says Rotherham council’s advisory cabinet member for jobs and the local economy Denise Lelliott. “I’m sure residents will welcome these improvements and encourage even more people to travel by bus.”
Kevin Belfield, managing director, First South Yorkshire, adds: “Our investment of over £5million in 22 new vehicles is great news for our customers and underlines our continuing determination to provide ever better bus services as part of the Rotherham Bus Partnership work and encourage more people to travel by bus. These new vehicles are among the best and most eco-friendly in South Yorkshire.
“Passengers can enjoy pleasant, more comfortable journeys and keep connected on the move with our new USB charging points, whilst supporting the efforts of our local authority partners to improve air quality for all.”
