First B5LH Evoseti double-decks for Tower Transit
Tower Transit is taking delivery of its first batch of MCV-bodied Volvo B5LH double-deck hybrid buses. The 51 new Euro 6 vehicles are built to TfL specification and include bespoke interior colours and styling. The buses will operate from Westbourne Park and Lea Interchange depots on TfL routes 58 - East Ham to Walthamstow Central; 308 – Wanstead to Lea Bridge; and 13 – Golders Green to Aldwych.
The double-decks carry up to 68 seated and 25 standing passengers and the hybrid powertrain promises fuel and CO2 reductions of around 39 per cent, compared to a conventional diesel double-deck bus, according to Volvo.
“These new hybrid buses are part of our continued effort to lower the emissions of our fleet,” says Satnam Cheema, group engineering director, Tower Transit. “They will be operating daily on some of London’s busiest routes and we’re looking forward to seeing positive results in terms of reliability, a reduction in vehicle emissions and an increase in fuel efficiency.”
Phil Fletcher, fleet sales manager, Volvo Bus, adds: “We believe our B5LH hybrid provides some of the cleanest emissions standards available in the world today. Like Tower Transit, we’re looking forward to seeing the bus with the new Evoseti bodywork on the streets of the capital throughout 2017.”
