Turin adds further four BYD electric buses to its order

Turin bus operator GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti) has added four more electric ebuses from BYD to its earlier order for 16 buses. The fleet of 20 ebuses will be in service from September 2017 on Turin urban and suburban networks managed by GTT. BYD will also provide full service support for the fleet over the next 10 years.

The original tender announced by GTT in autumn 2015 was the first modular tender for the purchase of large electric buses.

“Our new BYD ebus fleet will help us to offer Turin residents a cleaner environment and better air quality, something all cities are striving for,” says mayor of Turin Chiara Appendino.

Isbrand Ho, managing director, BYD Europe adds: “This further order from GTT underlines the importance of the Italian market to BYD alongside the UK and France. Our European sales are making good progress and we look forward to improving them.”
