Breathtaking horse-drawn boat trips
From the wharf, which is perched above the picturesque Welsh town of Llangollen, groups can take a two-hour cruise on a historic brightly-painted narrow boat, drawn by heavy horses through the tranquil waters of the Llangollen canal. From a comfortable seat aboard the narrow boat Thomas Telford, visitors travel across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a World Heritage site, which, at 126ft high, is the tallest waterway in the UK.
Private charters are available for the Thomas Telford which caters for groups from 30 to 52.
The cruise also takes in the dramatic Horse Shoe Falls. The four heavy horses that pull the boats are characters in their own right. One of them, Tog Welsh Cob, even has his own Facebook page and visitors are encouraged to post their own experiences of the cruise on Facebook as well.
And back in Llangollen itself the tearooms serve delicious home-made food all day with wonderful views of the town and the mountains.
