Norfolk Green took the top spot in this year’s UK Bus Awards, beating off competition from Brighton & Hove and Transdev Yellow Buses who were joint runners-up. The awards were presented in London yesterday at a ceremony attended by transport minister Norman Baker.

The three finalists for the UK Bus Operator of the Year award were each winners of their own category: Independent Operator, City Operator and Shire Operator respectively.

Other award winners included BAE Systems (Environment Award), Stagecoach East (Express Coach Operator), TrentBarton (Winning new Customers) and Arriva Yorkshire (Marketing Campaign). Among the awards for individuals were  Engineer of the Year, Darren Roe, Stagecoach Manchester, and Young Manager of the Year, Lorna Murphy, Abelio London.

UK Bus Awards chairman John Owen said that this year’s entries topped the 200-mark for the second year in succession and that all of the shortlisted companies should regard themselves as winners: “Despite the harsh economic climate and other pressures, we have again been hugely impressed by the commitment to quality and innovation shown by bus companies and their partners.”
