Fleet investment for South Shields

Fleet investment for South Shields Phil Medlicott, managing director, Stagecoach North East and Brian Sleightholme, operations manager, South Shields depot.

Stagecoach North East has launched the first of 19 new buses for its South Shields fleet as part of over £2.2 million investment.

A new ADL Enviro200 is the first of 19 buses which will be delivered over the next few weeks on services 3, 4, 7 and 8, which link the town centre locations and Harton Nook. Stagecoach says the livery’s ‘connecting the DOTS’ theme helps highlight the connections available along the routes, and the flexibility on offer for passengers when travelling across South Shields.

“Buses are critical to the local economy and so we have invested to improve the experience for customers and make it as easy as possible to travel within their community, connecting people to the many amenities and attractions in South Shields,” says Phil Medlicott, managing director of Stagecoach North East. “With the addition of free wi-fi, being able to work remotely, connect with friends via social networks or even check the latest journey information online will help make bus travel more productive.”
