The Oxford Bus Company claims to be the first operator in the country to have Euro 5 single-deck buses, double-deck buses and coaches in its fleet. It has been running Euro 5 single-deckers, Mercedes-Benz Citaros, since the end of 2006, and coaches, Volvo B12Bs, since the spring of 2007.

Now it is introducing its first Euro 5 double-deckers, 11 Scanias with Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodies for operation on the BrookesBus contract which it took over this month. They are the company’s first Scanias.

OBC managing director Philip Kirk says: “In Oxford, environmental issues and vehicle emissions are very important and so I’m delighted that we can match local concerns with ultra-low emission vehicles.

“We have a very discerning group of passengers and there’s evidence that customers are travelling with us not just because of the quality of our vehicles but because they approve of our environmental responsibility.”
