Growing rental fleet for Close Brothers coach and bus division

Growing rental fleet for Close Brothers coach and bus division Two StreetLites join the fleet of Secure Air Parks on long operation lease.

The Coach & Bus Rental division at Close Brothers Commercial Vehicle Solutions reports that it now has 18 Wrightbus StreetLites on the road and will have up to 65 vehicles available by September.

The latest two vehicles to go into service, 9.5m Euro 5 StreetLites, have been rented by Secure Air Parks on a long-term operating lease.

The StreetLites in Close Brothers’ fleet are a mixture of lengths from 8.8m to 11.5m with Euro 5 Cummins engines and Euro 6 Daimler and Cummins engine options.

“I am pleased with how this new part of the business is developing, and see the agreement with Wrightbus as a clear statement of intent,” says Mike Beagrie, managing director, coach & bus rental division. “We are carrying stock that enables operators to capitalise on tenders with a short lead in time. It’s worth noting that for longer-term rentals we can fund any product from any mainstream manufacturer if customers prefer to source the product themselves.

“There is often a long wait when ordering buses, and we’re offering a way for operators to bridge that gap with a range of competitive short-, mid- and long-term rental options that allow operators to upscale quickly, as was the case with the deal for Secure Air Parks.”

Steve Dand, Secure Air Parks managing director adds: “We run a bus service for car parking at Edinburgh airport and to meet increasing demand, we realised we needed to rent two new vehicles. We ordered the vehicles from Wrightbus and Close Brothers stepped in with a very competitive funding proposal that exactly met our requirements.

“We were impressed by their speed of service, particularly in terms of assessing our situation to turn around a deal that delivered two buses to us very quickly. They were easy to work with and the level of customer service we received was very good, from first contact to follow through on the deal.”

Close Brothers Commercial Vehicle Solutions was formed in February 2015.

“I’m very much enjoying this challenging new role at Close Brothers,” says Beagrie. “I have already built a first class team around me and would say that our combined expertise and knowledge of the bus and coach industry really is second to none.

“Of course we also have the backing of a large operations team within the wider division, and the support of parent company Close Brothers.”
