Largest ever order for Volvo articulated hybrid buses
In the largest ever order for the Volvo 7900 articulated hybrid, 28 buses are now being operated in Budapest by T&J Busz.
The three-axle 18m Volvo 7900 has a passenger capacity of 126 and is powered by a Volvo D5 Euro 6 engine rated at 900Nm, with a Volvo I-SAM parallel hybrid, rated at 150kW max.
“It's really good news that Budapest has also decided to invest in hybrid technology,” says Arpad Szucs, Volvo Buses’ country manager in Hungary. “We have sold more than 1,900 hybrid buses to cities in 21 countries, but this is the largest single order so far for articulated hybrid buses.”
In addition to the 28 buses, Volvo Buses will also be supplying T&J Busz with servicing and maintenance for all the buses, including the batteries, for a fixed monthly cost.
“Customers who make the move to a new technology obviously want to feel secure,” adds Fredrik Röstad, head of area East Europe, Volvo Buses. “This is why we offer business models where we take responsibility for all the maintenance of the buses, including the batteries, for a fixed, predefined cost. This is a win-win situation for both parties.”
The sale was made in collaboration with Hungarian company Rába Automotive, which also supplied the seats for the 28 hybrid buses.
