Stagecoach orders 100 from Optare

Stagecoach orders 100 from Optare 25 new Optare Versas have been ordered as part of the deal.

OPTARE'S new Versa has got off to a flying start with an order for 25 from Stagecoach. The Versas are part of a £9million 100-bus order placed with Optare by Stagecoach, with the remainder being 27-seat Solos. Stagecoach already operates a substantial Solo fleet.

All 100 buses will have MAN engines with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to meet Euro 4.

Les Warneford, managing director of Stagecoach UK Bus, says: "Stagecoach has consistently grown the number of people using its services for the past four years and this new fleet of high-quality, environmentally-friendly vehicles will help our drive to encourage car users to switch to the bus."
