Gloucester Quays brings the hustle and bustle of a Victorian Christmas to the city from 24-27 November as a traditional market returns to the outlet shopping centre and historic docks following its successful debut last year.

The free event will feature decorated stalls selling hand-made gifts and fine food and drink, characters in Dickensian costume, street entertainers, family activities, traditional carousel, real ale tavern, Victorian waterside, Waterways Museum and choirs and brass bands. It will take place in and around the outlet shopping centre and historic docks.

Returning for 2011 will be the Seven Dial Rapscallions, a larger-than-life troupe of Victorian re-enactors who were a huge hit with visitors last year. Characters mingling with the crowds included fine ladies in beautiful period dress, street urchins and their Fagin-like masters, wanted criminals, travelling salesmen offering medicines and ‘wonder cures’ and lots more, and the whole cast will be back for more this November.

Coach operators pre-booking for the event enjoy a meet-and-greet service, coach parking, a driver’s free meal voucher and The Book of Treats discounts for the whole group. Bookings before 1 September benefit from a £10 organiser gift card.
