West Sussex consultation extended West Sussex consultation extended
West Sussex county council has extended consultation on bus service cuts by two weeks, to 24 June. The authority is reducing support for bus services by £2million – from £4.7million - over the next three years, with the first cuts in October. The council estimates the reduction could affect two million trips a year, out of a total of 24 million.

Lionel Barnard, the county’s deputy leader with responsibility for highways and transport, says: “We are working hard with the bus operators to investigate all the alternatives to try and keep services running wherever possible.

Like many other authorities, West Sussex is mainly planning to cut support for evening and Sunday services.
